About us

Working for Oxford's cycling community.

Established in April 2001. Oxford Cycle Workshop has always been an organisation keen to explore new ways of serving our community. Eight years on, we converted to a worker owned co-operative and worked hard to fill the gaps in support for Oxford's wonderfully diverse cycling population.

Sadly, in August 2011, Oxford Cycle Workshop had to stop trading. (Oxford Cycle Workshop Training (OCWT) continues unaffected by this change).

Mobile mechanic services. James continues these as Oxford Mobile Cycle Repairs Ltd, see www.ocw.coop/services.

Bike recycling has been taken on by Oxford Cycle Workshop Training (OCWT), contact OCWT for further details.

Bike recycling

We recycle roughly 1000 of Oxford's bicycles destined for landfill every year.

Bike recycling has allowed us to offer our customers an affordable, reliable and environmentally conscious alternative to the growing number of cheap bikes shipped in from the far east. As explored on a recent edition of Watchdog, cheap new bikes can often be a false economy. Bike sales take place on the last Sunday of every month at our Glanville Road premises from 10am until 4pm. A full catalogue of what will be on sale can be found here.

Offering skills through recycling

Oxford Cycle Workshop Training offer training and life skills to disadvantaged young people through the process of bike refurbishment. This means at the end we are able to refurbish the bikes donated to us by the people of Oxford to a really high standard. Reselling them at an affordable price with a 3 month warranty. They also offer a range of public courses to demystify the basics of cycle maintenance in a fun friendly environment.

Donate a bike

Donating your unwanted bicycles really supports the work we're doing here in Oxford. To donate an unwanted bike you can either drop it off at our training centre on Glanville Road.

Supporting Oxford's cycling events

In Oxford you don't have to think of yourself as a cyclist to love riding your bike.

From regular Alleycat events through to Bike Polo and an annual Cycle Festival. For many years now Oxford Cycle Workshop has actively supported bringing all shapes and sizes of Oxford cyclist together to mess around on bikes.
